What can you expect from your Mexican getaway in Nuevo Vallarta?
Loads of fun under the sun!
The long stretch of pristine beaches afford guests plenty of opportunities for enjoying a few water sports. Go scuba diving, surfing, paddle boarding, kite surfing or kayaking; or you can also sail off to the Marietas Islands to explore more of the region’s natural wonders. If you’re lucky, you might just catch a glimpse of humpback whales or see dolphins swimming alongside your boat!
If you want to have more fun in the water, you can also visit the Aquaventuras Park, a water park that features slides of all shapes and sizes (the Happy Widow is the highest slide), dolphin encounters, sea lion discovery, and loads of other fun activities.
Olive Ridley and leatherback sea turtle sanctuary
Flamingos Beach has a turtle farm dedicated to protecting the turtle eggs left by nesting mothers. The eggs are harvested, hatched, and then released back into the sea. If you wish to help find the eggs or watch as the hatchlings are released, you can join guided tours. Kevin and Maria Cobb of Newport Beach, CA shares that nightly releases are from August to January only so plan your trip to Nuevo Vallarta around this time.
A few reminders by Five Star Vacation Rentals
If you’re planning to watch the release of turtle hatchlings, you’d best visit between August and September as this is when most everything is at their cheapest; being a low season. It can get hot however so pack light clothes and lots of sunblock. Occasional rains might occur, too, so be prepared to spend a little time indoors when the rains do come.
From January to March, the weather in Nuevo Vallarta is at its friendliest, which means that more tourists flock to the resort. Be prepared to spend more if you do visit around this time. For mid-range prices, visit between October and December (although prices might start peaking around November).
Currency is Mexican Peso, and native language is Spanish, but most locals speak and understand English so communication shouldn’t be a problem at all.
